Chlöe Bailey talks shop with Terrell Grice about the music industry and how hard it can be to find success.

During an episode of “The Terrell Show,” Chlöe discusses why it’s harder for some than others. “Musicians don’t make a lot of money in the music industry,” Bailey tells Grice around 28 minutes into the episode. “That’s why you see a lot of people – they have brand deals and brand sponsorships because that’s where the coin comes from. And touring. But music itself, you’re actually losing money,” Chlöe adds.

She also shares with Terrell Grice some of the surprises she discovered while producing music.

“You wanna know something else? I learned this because I would produce sis and I’s records. Producers outside will get paid a huge lump sum. But, because I would produce sis and I’s records, I couldn’t get paid because I was a producer within the group,” Chlöe shares.

“The good is that, even though you lose money in the music business, you get a coin from everything that comes from the music you’re making,” Chlöe continues. “So the music is almost like the ad. It’s a business. And it’s sad to think of it that way, but it’s why tours go big – that’s where you make your money. And the big brand deals.”

Chlöe Bailey says the same stipulation barred her from being nominated for ‘Producer of the Year’ at the Grammys. She admits she’s not sure if the rules have changed since, given how many changes the awards ceremony has undergone behind the scenes in recent years.

Chlöe Bailey is also working on a Peacock exclusive show called Praise This. She stars as the newest member of a community church’s choir. As Bailey’s character pushes the members in a more modern musical direction, her involvement with an irreverent hip-hop star may kick off her own music career. The movie is set to premiere sometime in 2023.

“I wanna win an EGOT – Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony. That’s like, my main goal. If anybody asks me, I’m just gonna say that,” Bailey shares about her future. Her debut album is officially complete, but there’s no official word on a release date yet.
