The Prince of Darkness is getting in on the NFT craze. Ozzy Osbourne is debuting limited edition ‘CryptoBatz.’
The non-fungible tokens (NFTs) will be available to purchase in mid-January 2022. The Ozzy-inspired collection features 9,666 unique NFT bats, giving collectors and fans a chance to own a piece of art history. The project takes its name from the controversial move of Ozzy biting off the head of a bat on stage.
These NFTs are unique in that they come with the ability for collectors to mint an additional NFT. The NFTs can ‘bite’ and mutate with another NFT from their Apple wallet. These ‘MutantBatz’ combine features of two separate projects, making them very rare and collectible all on their own.
“I’ve been trying to get in on the NFT action for a while so when I asked Sharon for a Bored Ape for Christmas after several failed attempts of buying my own, and she said no, so I decided to create my own!” Ozzy said in a statement.
“CryptoBatz is a f**king mental project for NFT collectors and fans. The design pays tribute to one of my most iconic on-stage moments and is a chance to acquire a rare piece of art history. I love it!”
Ozzy Osbourne partnered with NFT Studio Sutter Systems to help create CryptoBatz.
The whitelist pre-sale for CryptoBatz started on December 27. The first 2,500 people who sign up are guaranteed to mint a CryptoBat 48 hours before the public mint begins in early February. Successful applicants can mint up to three CryptoBatz per wallet. Each CryptoBatz comes with the ability to mint an additional MutantBatz per wallet.
How MutantBatz Work
CryptoBatz can ‘bite’ one other NFT that is held in the same wallet from four other NFT projects. Those projects include the Bored Ape Yacht Club, SupDucks, CryptoToadz, and a fourth mystery project that has not been revealed.
Ozzy also plans to launch another NFT project in Q1 2022 called AncientBatz. The treasure hunt for AncientBatz is reserved for CryptoBatz holders. Each AncientBat found can bite up to 100 times, giving them the ability to spawn 100 MutantBatz NFTs from other NFT collections.
