Nickelodeon’s 90s mascot Face returns in a new music variety show premiering on June 6. Face’s Music Party will feature modern pop hits with reimagined classic nursery rhymes for a preschool music party airing Mondays at 11 am.
Debuting Monday, June 6, during Nickelodeon’s preschool programming block, the series will see the return of 90s Nick Jr. mascot Face. Voiced by Cedric Williams (Hunter x Hunter, ThunderCats Roar), Face will serve as host and VJ of the music-themed Face’s Music Party. Featuring animation and live action, 13 episodes of the series are approved and will air during the summer.
The premiere episode is titled “Robots/Imagination,” with Face showcasing robot-themed music videos and songs about imagination. Each episode will center around a theme and consist of multiple segments: kid-friendly music videos from contemporary artists, remixed classic nursery rhyme sing-alongs, a segment teaching kids about a particular musical concept, instrument, or sound, and culminating in a high-energy dance finale featuring kid dancers showcasing moves for viewers to learn at home.
Airing throughout the summer, Nickelodeon’s preschool programming block Nick Jr. will present “Music Mondays,” a five-hour block (7 am-12 pm ET/PT) of music-themed episodes of fan favorites. Featuring shows like Peppa Pig, Bubble Guppies, PAW Patrol, and more, the block will lead up to the premiere of Face’s Music Party at 11 am. “Music Mondays” will continue to air from 12 pm-5 pm ET/PT on the Nick Jr. channel.
Face initially debuted on Nick Jr. on September 5, 1994, and was the mascot of the network’s preschool programming block for over a decade. Greeting Nick Jr. viewers during show intros, bumpers, musical shorts, and interstitials, Face could appear almost anywhere, with constant color changes, silly voices, and expressions. The character’s signature “brr brr brr” trumpet sound was a mainstay presenting preschool shows until September 10, 2004.
Produced by Nickelodeon Animation in Burbank, Calfornia, in partnership with Jonas and Company, Inc., Face’s Music Party is executive produced by Hema Mulchandani, Jonas Morganstein, and showrunner David Kleiler. Niki Williams is Nickelodeon’s Executive in Charge of Production for the series, while Eryk Casemiro, Executive Vice President of Nickelodeon Animation, Global Series Content, will oversee production.
