Wade had a great final night in Miami.
Dwyane Wade is a Miami Heat legend. After 16 years in the NBA, the Heat superstar is ficially retiring from the game and on Tuesday, he played his last ever game in Miami. It was an emotional game as his son Zaire announced him onto the court before the Miami crowd. Wade had a game for the ages as he dropped 30 points en route to a 122-99 win against the Philadelphia 76ers. Unfortunately, the win wasn’t enough to keep the Heat in the playf race, although it was clear that Wade was just happy to put on a show at home one last time.
“It’s meant everything,” Wade said according to ESPN. “To be able to come here and be embraced, to find a home, to be able to grow. I think that’s the one thing. When I was on the court early on and Stan Van Gundy] let me grow, as a player, to whether it was mistakes I made in life to whatever it was, this city has allowed me to grow. I hope they are proud what they have helped me become. This city means everything to me. It’s forever, forever, forever going to be my home.”
After the game, Wade swapped jerseys with 76ers star Jimmy Butler who is one Wade’s best friends.
It was a great final ride for a player who has brought three championships to the city Miami. On Wednesday night, Wade will play his last ever game, this time against the Brooklyn Nets.
