White House Experiences Short Lockdown Due To Nearby Protests


The White House was worried about a potential intrusion following protests in D.C.

Protests have continued to erupt throughout the United States following the police killing George Floyd. People are rightfully outraged about this atrocity and it’s clear that the population has had enough the police brutality that has plagued the country for years. Now, citizens are standing up and exercising their right to protest. As you can imagine, these protests have been met with resistance and a large police presence.

Last night, protesters took to the streets in Washington, D.C. and many got dangerously close to the White House. The Secret Service was so scared what could happen that they put the White House under lockdown where many reporters and personnel were stuck for quite some time. Eventually, the lockdown was lifted and people were finally able to exit the premises.

Protests continued throughout the night and cities all across the country are trying to deal with the fallout. Properties have been destroyed, people have been injured and countless others have been arrested. It all makes for some truly disturbing scenes although you can’t help but feel like the country is experiencing a massive historical moment.
