Over the weekend, Donald Trump held his controversial rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma after pushing it back a day to “honor” Juneteenth. It was a highly controversial rally. Not only because the ongoing protests and the historical context behind his decision to host the rally weeks after the 99th anniversary Tulsa race massacre but also due to pandemic that he’s downplayed since it began. Despite this, he truly believed that the place would’ve been packed.

According to reports, Trump was “furious” over the low turnout in Tulsa. He said that there was 1M people interested in attending the rally at the 19,000 capacity venue. At the end, roughly 6,000 people were in attendance. NYT reports from four people close to the situation claimed that he yelled at ides for the low numbers backstage, even though he already notified the low turnout on Air Force One. Apparently even after the event, he was angry on his way back to the White House. A video emerged afterward Trump looking tired with his tie undone and a MAGA hat in his hand as if he was doing the walk shame.
There have been reports that TikTokers and K-Pop stans formed an alliance to register to attend the rally without actually showing up. Trump’s campaign manager then blamed it on “leftist and online trolls” as well as “a week’s worth the fake news media warning people away from the rally because COVID and protestors.”
