"Suicide Squad" Fans Campaign For The Director’s Cut

David Ayer’s “Suicide Squad” gets renewed attention following the release Zack Synder’s long-awaited “Justice League” cut.

Look, Suicide Squad wasn’t exactly what you’d call a great movie. That’s not to say anybody in particular is to blame for that — after all, there were plenty talented people involved in the creation process. Even Jared Leto’s maligned take on Joker might have had some legs if the majority his footage wasn’t collecting dust on the cutting room floor. In any case, the narrative surrounding David Ayer’s villainous romp is far from flattering, though it does have its ardent supporters all the same.

Supporters who have once again mobilized on social media with a simple goal: push for an ficial “Ayer Cut”  Suicide Squad, one that presumably features the bulk the lost Joker footage — a loss that has been largely thought to have occurred due to studio intervention. And seeing as Zack Synder’s long-awaited Justice League cut recently secured a release date (against all odds, some would say), Ayer has once again taken to social media to drum up Suicide Squad hype. How? By firing f an appropriately edgy Joker meme, course.

Following the picture, fans sparked up a campaign #ReleaseTheAyerCut, with the aim to follow the footsteps Snyder’s own Justice League. Though it’s unclear as to whether this one will have the same momentum as its DC counterpart, one has to wonder if morbid curiosity to see more Leto’s Joker will prove fruitful. Should a David Ayer cut  Suicide Squad ever surface, will you be tuning in?
