Shaun King Receiving Death Threats Following "White Jesus" Comments

Shaun King equated “white Jesus” to “white supremacy,” resulting in backlash.

As we reported yesterday, Shaun King told his followers that versions white Jesus need to be removed across the United States and Europe, as it is another showcase white supremacy.

In an interaction with a twitter user, King first wrote, “If your religion requires Jesus to be a blonde haired blue eyed Jesus, then your religion is not Christianity, but white supremacy. Christian whiteness, not white Christianity, has been the primary religion this country for hundreds years.”

He continued, “Yes, I think the statues the white European they claim is Jesus should also come down. They are a form white supremacy. Always have been. In the Bible, when the family Jesus wanted to hide, and blend in, guess where they went? EGYPT! Not Denmark. Tear them down.”

He didn’t end there, adding, “Yes. All murals and stained glass windows white Jesus, and his European mother, and their white friends should also come down. They are a gross form white supremacy. Created as tools oppression. Racist propaganda. They should all come down.”

He then shared a sketch what Jesus purportedly looked like:

Apparently, these comments have proven all too much for certain believers, resulting in death threats to King.

He shared on to his twitter followers today,

“Received about 20 death threats in the past 12 hours since I said that statues white European Jesus are a tool oppression for white supremacy and should be taken down. It pretty much proves my point. Your religion is actually whiteness with a Christian patina.”

He continued,”I am a practicing Christian. I am an ordained minister and was a Senior Pastor for many years. If my critiques the white supremacy within the Christian world bother you to the point wanting to kill me, you are the problem. Christian whiteness has ALWAYS been dangerous.”
