R. Kelly’s Request For Release Denied For Third Time: Report

A judge has denied R. Kelly’s motion to post bond in wake the coronavirus pandemic.

R. Kelly might still think he’s innocent but this time around, there are very few people that are convinced that’s true. The embattled singer has been incarcerated as he awaits trial for sex crime charges. However, the coronavirus pandemic has shifted the world entirely, especially within the criminal justice system. Former inmates have been granted early release but not R. Kelly. Over the past few months, he’s made several attempts to post bond and it seems like he’s not providing a strong enough argument for his release.

Page Six reports that a judge has denied R. Kelly bond for a third time in a row after he made pleads to be released out fear contracting coronavirus. In the latest motion his lawyers filed on his behalf argued that he’s prediabetic and can very well be at risk if exposed to COVID-19. However, that wasn’t a compelling enough argument for the judge.

“I do not agree that a diagnosis prediabetes presents a compelling reason for the defendant’s release,” Judge Ann Donnelly wrote. “While the CDC has identified diabetes as a risk factor for COVID-19, the same is not true for prediabetes, a condition that affects nearly one in three American adults.”

This marks the third time a judge has denied R. Kelly to be released from prison in wake the pandemic. We’ll keep you posted on any updates.
