Chicago, IL – R. Kelly was back in a Chicago courtroom on Thursday (May 30) and slapped with multiple felony counts, which reportedly stem from a 2010 encounter.
According to The Chicago Sun-Times, Cook County prosecutors added 11 new sex-related charges, including four counts aggravated criminal sexual assault, two counts criminal sexual assault by force, two counts aggravated criminal sexual abuse, and three counts aggravated criminal sexual abuse against a victim between the ages 13 to 16.
They are related to an alleged victim involved in one the four sex abuse cases filed against Kelly in February.
Kelly’s attorney Steve Greenberg said he’d been notified the new charges but hadn’t seen any filings in the case.
“We’ll see what the charges are, and we’ll proceed accordingly,” Greenberg said. “I know this much: it’s old. They’re allegations from years ago.”
In a Twitter post, Greenberg confirmed the new charges related to one the alleged existing victims.

Greenberg added, “These are the same conduct, just charged differently, same alleged victim, same time frame, same facts. We expect the same results.”

The disgraced R&B singer is currently out on a $1 million bond following his February indictment. Some the new charges carry a maximum sentence 30 years in prison.
Evidence started to mount against the 52-year-old in the wake Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly docu-series. During an explosive interview with CBS This Morning in March, Kelly maintained his innocence.
Kelly is expected back in court on June 6.
