Offset Sparks Twitter Debate After Stating ‘Hip Hop Is Black Culture’

Hip Hop has evolved from bootleg parties at 1520 Sedgwick Avenue in the Bronx to the biggest genre in the world. But ten times, people forget to honor its predecessors.

In an attempt to do so, Offset sparked a Twitter debate after he reminded his followers where Hip Hop started.

“Sorry but hip hop is black culture,” he wrote. “don’t speak or give game if u don’t have black culture duh.”

When Offset’s initial tweet appeared to cause some confusion, he attempted to clear up his comments.

“Don’t make rules on what goes in hip hop when u don’t know the history,” he added. “it’s pain music story music we the biggest genre in the world f our struggle and hustle yesssir proud my people that’s all u mad than sorry but no sorry took a lot for us to get here but we here!!!!”

Naturally, Twitter was divided on the Migos rapper’s sentiments. Par for the course, people quickly threw in their two cents.

Some delivered a few low blows, stating Iggy Azalea could out-rap Offset’s wife Cardi B and Eminem could easily smoke Offset. Some also accused Offset hating, but others were more understanding and conceded to his point.
