Nipsey Hussle’s Vigil Disrupted As Mourners Are Injured With Conflicting Reports Of Shots Fired

The LAFD and LAPD tell two different stories.

global community continues to mourn the loss rapper Nipsey Hussle, but those that live in the neighborhood he protected and built up are even more deeply affected by the tragedy. Thousands people have visited the rapper’s Marathon store—the site his murder—to pay their respects since Hussle’s passing. Everyone has kept the peace and respected one another as they lit candles, left letters and cards, and listened to motivational speeches by community members. However, this evening a disruption occurred and reports from local Los Angeles stations state that there are people are injured at the scene.

NBC 4 News reports that the Los Angeles Fire Department told them they responded to the scene after they received reports shots fired about an hour ago. Police convened as well and could be seen making their way through the crowd, but according to their ficial Twitter account, reports gunfire are inaccurate.

“Our men and women are on scene and making every effort to protect everyone in attendance at the Nipsey Hussle vigil,” the LAPD tweeted. “Reports shots fired at the vigil do not appear to be accurate. We do have injured in the chaos and are attempting to restore order. We understand the community is mourning and we feel your loss We are asking for everyone to follow the ficers’ directions and disperse from the immediate area.”

The news station claims that their chopper was above the scene and watched as the crowd scattered on more than one occasion. Paramedics attended to the injured on site.
