Nike, Brooklyn Nets Sued By Coogi Over Biggie Tribute Uniforms

Coogi is suing the NBA, Nike and the Brooklyn Nets over their “Unfold Love” uniforms that honor the late Biggie Smalls.

In a lawsuit filed Wednesday in Manhattan federal courtroom (H/T The New York Post), Coogi claims Brooklyn’s 2018-19 Nike Metropolis Version jerseys, that includes a sample known as “Brooklyn Camo,” imitates its distinctive, colourful — and copyrighted designs. 

“The defendants] have been effectively conscious that Biggie neither wore nor rapped about something referred to as ‘Brooklyn Camo,” the lawsuit reads, in keeping with The Post. “However they created, marketed and offered and distributed ‘Brooklyn Camo’ merchandise in order to confuse customers concerning the connection between their items… and Coogi.”

The all black uniforms are highlighted by the controversial Coogi-themed, multi-color “Brooklyn Camo” sample that runs down the edges the jersey and shorts and alongside the sleeve and neckline piping.
