New Music: Q-Tip & Kendrick Lamar ‘Want U 2 Want’

Kung Fu Kenny meets The Abstract.

On Friday (Feb. 9), Q-Tip finally unleashed a long-awaited and ten-teased collaboration with Kendrick Lamar, unficially titled “Want U 2 Want.”

It’s a funky and soulful tune full scratches, which allows Cortez Kenny to rhyme about his wants and needs. “I just want you to want me,” he adds. “I want to see you fall through / Quick fast, without having to call you.”

Meanwhile, Q-Tip references the classic “She Needs Me” f The Kendrick Lamar EP, which dropped in 2009. “She needs me,” he rhymes. “I need her.”

It’s unclear when the song was made but Tip confirmed that it isn’t “new.” In 2013, he tweeted: “@kendricklamar can I let this record we did go my brotha? People need to hear it.” The tweet has since been deleted.

The Tip-Dot collaboration arrives on the heels Black Panther: The Album, which Kendrick curated and produced with his TDE family.
