Mariah Carey Drops ‘In the Mix’ Theme Song for ‘Mixed-ish’

Mariah Carey gets “In the Mix” with the theme song for ABC’s upcoming series, “Mixed-ish.”

The uplifting bop finds the pop icon belting over a bouncy R&B groove. “Oh, they keep trying, but they can’t stop us,” sings MC. “‘Cause we got a love that keeps rising up.”

The accompanying video opens with Mariah in the studio and features footage the cast from the Kenya Barris-produced spinf series. The singer’s twins, Moroccan and Monroe, also lend their vocals.

“As a biracial woman in the entertainment industry, there was no way I did not want to be a part ‘mixed-ish,’ especially after seeing the pilot, which I loved,” Carey said in a statement. “I could not be more honored and proud to be writing and performing ‘In the Mix’ for Kenya and the show.”

“Mixed-ish” is a prequel to “Black-ish,” which centers on Tracee Ellis Ross’ charater Rainbow Johnson as she recalls her experience growing up in a mixed-race family in the ’80s, reports The Wrap.

“Mixed-ish,” starring Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Tika Sumpter, and Arica Himmel, premieres Sept. 24 at 9 p.m. on ABC.
