Listen to Nipsey Hussle’s ‘Perfect Ten’ Collaboration with Mustard

It’s been three months since Nipsey Hussle passed away, but the Marathon continues.

Following DJ Khaled and John Legend’s “Higher,” Mustard debuts his Perfect Ten collaboration with the Crenshaw legend, which serves as the title track f his new album.

The stripped-down production is a powerful tribute to the slain MC, who explains his Marathon movement. “That’s why I call my thing the Marathon because I’m not gonna lie and portray this ultimate poise, like I been had it figured out,” says Nipsey. “Nah, I just didn’t quit. That’s the only distinguishing quality.”

The fallen hero also shares his journey (“I went through every emotion trying to pursue what I did”) and praises YG (“I think protest music is important. I think that YG was a genius”).

During an interview with Apple Music’s Beats 1, Mustard reflected on Nipsey’s passing. “He was doing everything,” he said. “When you really look at his life and what he’s doing, he’s doing it all. It’s up to everybody to keep that going and really lock into it.”

In addition to Nipsey, Perfect Ten features collaborations with YG, Ella Mai, Ty Dolla $ign, Future, Meek Mill, A$AP Rocky, Playboi Carti, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Young Thug, Gunna, and more.

Earlier today, the Los Angeles Times revealed more details on what happened March 31, the day Nipsey was murdered. He was signing autographs and taking photos with fans outside his Marathon Clothing store. Less than 30 minutes into his visit, Eric Holder approached the rapper and the topic turned to snitching. According to the prosecutor, the conversation “moved Eric Holder to a point wanting to return to the parking lot and kill Nipsey Hussle.”
