Lil Nas X Updated “7” Cover Art To Reflect Rainbow Flag

Lil Nas X’s vision for the 7 EP cover art was reportedly very specific and intended to reveal he was gay way before June 30 when he announced it on Twitter. TMZ reports designer Lorenzo Sozzi, who crafted the cover with the 20-year-old Atlanta native, said he wanted the art to show him “leaving a dystopian world for a futuristic world.”

He insisted one the buildings included the rainbow colors, which he thought provided enough a clue. The EP dropped on June 15, but he didn’t make his big reveal until roughly two weeks later. He tweeted he “deadass” thought he “made it obvious” with the cover.

Nas X’s sexuality has been a heavy topic conversation this week, drawing both support and criticism. Boosie Badazz caught heat for clowning Nas X’s breakout hit “Old Town Road” while 50 Cent dragged Nas X into his beef with Young Buck.

Subsequently, the burgeoning star took his feelings to Instagram and dared anyone to say anything “home phobic” again.

In his initial coming out tweet, he directed fans to listen to “c7osure (You Like),” the second to last song on 7. A verse in the song points to someone struggling with a secret, which he evidently finally unleashed.

7 debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart earlier this week.
