Kid Cudi is floored after Martin Scorsese praises ‘Pearl,’ which Cudi produced: “This blows my mind.”
Kid Cudi’s mind was blown after legendary director Martin Scorsese said he was “enthralled, then disturbed” by the horror film Pearl, which Cudi co-produced. The rapper’s Mad Solar company produced the blood-drenched slasher flick alongside LeBron James’ BRON Creative and A24. Starring Mia Goth, Pearl was directed by Ti West. Kid Cudi was also instrumental in Pearl‘s sequel and the earlier film in the series, X.
Stepping out of his comfort zone to embark on new frontiers, Kid Cudi has recently dipped his toe into the world of film and television production.
While it can be challenging to try new things, receiving recognition from one of the world’s most renowned figures in that sphere would be second to none. Kid Cudi recently got to experience such a feat after director Martin Scorsese reviewed and lavished praise upon a film he helped produce.
“Pearl makes for a wild, mesmerizing, deeply — and I mean deeply — disturbing 102 minutes,” says the 79-year-old Scorsese, who attests he couldn’t get the film out of his head. “I was enthralled, then disturbed, then so unsettled that I had trouble getting to sleep. But I couldn’t stop watching.”
Scorsese’s review and praise of the film floored Kid Cudi, who tweeted, “This blows my mind. Martin Scorsese loves a movie I produced. Wow. Mad Solar, we here now.”
Such props from a world-renowned master of his craft should help propel Mad Solar as they ascend new heights. Kid Cudi and his production company have also been working hard on at least two upcoming Netflix projects: a film called Teddy, and an animated series, Entergalactic, based on Kid Cudi’s forthcoming album.
The rapper wrote and stars in the series, which he also executive produced and for which he wrote the soundtrack. Entergalactic is scheduled to premiere on September 30, while little about Teddy has come to the surface.
