Kendrick Lamar Eyes Role in ‘Black Panther’ Sequel

Kendrick Lamar curated the Black Panther soundtrack, and now he may be eyeing a role in the sequel to the Marvel blockbuster.

In an interview with BBC Radio 1, K-Dot was asked if he would appear in a future installment the film. “I’ve got to now,” he said, before revealing his take on Erik Killmonger, the film’s multi-layered antagonist played by Michael B. Jordan.

“I really enjoy Killmonger’s character, just f the simple fact that he was a villain but he came with some real talk],” he explained. “He was a villain but he was loved and misunderstood. So if I could, I’d play a Killmonger, for sure.”

Kung Fu Kenny went on to say that he’s proud the work he did for the film, creating an album with music from and inspired by the critically-adored Ryan Coogler movie.

“We’re talking about timeless films and things that are going to curate after this film,” he added. “When we got to the music, I just wanted to make sure that I could complement that and be a part it] in the best way I could.”

Kendrick is credited as an artist on several songs from the soundtrack, but lends his vocals to many more. The album, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, also features SZA, Travis Scott, ScHoolboy Q, Future, Khalid, and more.

The movie topped the box fice in its opening weekend, bringing in a whopping $241.9 million in North America over four days. It has earned over $520 million worldwide.
