Kanye West is facing legal problems.
Despite the good energy Kanye West has been spreading around with his scenic Sunday services, the rapper was placed on the hot seat for using unlicensed songs during his Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival performance. Though the show was successful and attracted celebrities all kinds, not everyone was delighted with its technicalities. According to the artists behind the tracks, the legendary Clark Sisters, Kanye failed to acquire clearance for the legal use their songs.
Reports by BOSSIP, following a discussion with a music performance rights specialist, indicate Kanye was to first directly contact the Clarks’ publishers for licensing. The latter would have allowed for the iconic group to acquire their justly owed royalties in light Ye’s performance. However, because the “Yeezy” designer failed to do so, a cheque (or more) is expected to be cut very soon.
The sisters called the rapper out their Instagram, by sharing multiple videos his performance with captions stating the song was theirs. The evident vocals the sisters can be heard in both videos. They even went onto directly tagging Kanye’s Sunday Service Instagram to let them (and everyone) know the infraction.
