Jennifer Lopez surprised a superfan hers who is working as an ER nurse on the frontlines the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jennifer Lopez made sure to shower an ER nurse in New York with praise for her “heroic” actions when she made a surprise appearance on The At-Home Variety Show. On Wednesday (June 24th), hosts the Peacock show, Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie, invited NYC nurse Cassidy Toben to speak with them about her experiences working on the frontlines the COVID-19 pandemic these past few months. At one point, Savannah mentions that Cassidy is a big fan Jennifer Lopez, and before we know it, J-Lo herself appears onscreen to greet Cassidy.
“We are so grateful for everything that you do,” J-Lo tells Cassidy. “Thank you so much.” Cassidy admitted she was “freaking out” about meeting her hero, and she even revealed that her last outing prior to the pandemic was to attend the Super Bowl LIV earlier this year, where J-Lo performed alongside Shakira during the halftime show. “To think that that was only a few months ago and we were all celebrating something together as a country and now here we are,” Cassidy said. “But thank you for that because it’s really inspirational.”
However, J-Lo refuses to take the spotlight for a second, and redirects the focus on the “heroic” healthcare workers risking their lives to save others. “I was listening to you saying as I was] sneakily waiting to say hello, about, you know, you can’t save everybody and how hard that must be and that kind reality setting in. It just reminded me too how difficult this time is and how challenging it’s been,” the singer/actress said. She later invites Cassidy to attend her first live concert once the pandemic is over.
