Irv Gotti Says NFL Made JAY-Z ‘Look Like a Pawn’

While Cardi B thinks JAY-Z’s partnership with the NFL is a good move, Irv Gotti doesn’t seem to agree.

During an interview with Page Six, the Murder Inc. boss shared his thoughts on the highly-publicized deal between Roc Nation and the league.

Although he’s hopeful that Hov is trying to improve the NFL from within, Gotti believes that he’s being used by the league. “To sit there and watch JAY talk at their meeting] while NFL commissioner] Roger Goodell is sitting there quiet, it almost looks like the NFL manufactured and manipulated JAY to be the front and face the bullshit, knowing JAY is so powerful that he can make people forget about Colin Kaepernick and others] kneeling,” said Gotti.

Last week, the NFL and Roc Nation announced their partnership for a music and social justice campaign. JAY-Z will consult on entertainment, including the Super Bowl halftime show, and contribute to the league’s social-justice program, Inspire Change.

Gotti went on to call it “a brilliant move for the NFL,” adding, “If it was a masterminded plan, then you just used Hov for a masterminded plan and made him look like a pawn in this whole f**king thing.”

However, he said he’s willing to see how it plays out before making final judgment.

Meanwhile, others including Vic Mensa are optimistic that JAY will hire the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback now that he’s in business with the league.

“I would be surprised if Kaepernick doesn’t get a job with Hov being in the NFL,” the Chicago rapper told TMZ. “We know the NFL is a slave game, so to have a black man in there … especially a black man with a socially conscious responsibility, ’cause I know that’s how Hov feels, man … I believe that Kap gonna get that job and I believe that Hov’s intentions are in the right place.”
