The new year is still young, but it's already shaping up to be a big one for hip-hop. The music world is preparing for festivals around the globe with some the game's brightest stars, and course America's most dominant genre, hip-hop, has prime placement.
Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival always brings out the big names and this year's proceedings are no different. Eminem, The Weeknd, Tyler, the Creator and Migos, are the hip-hop power players embarking on Indio, Calif. in April. Cardi B will make her first Coachella appearance, while XXL Freshman alumni Vince Staples, Kyle, DeJ Loaf, Kamaiyah, Aminé and French Montana are also slated to perform.
If you can't make it to the West Coast, the East has already announced enough festivals to keep you satisfied all summer long. Eminem is also slated to lead the pack at The Governor's Ball Music Festival 2018, along with Travis $cott and N.E.R.D, who closed out 2017 with their highly celebrated No_One Ever Really Dies LP. 2 Chainz, Vic Mensa and A$AP Twelvyy will also be joining the guys at Randall's Island Park the first weekend in June, ensuring an enormous turnout for this acclaimed New York City festival.
Westside Gunn & Conway have a long road shows ahead as well, seeing they've already been tapped to hit the stage for at least five national festivals this year. One their gigs this year is on the Harvard campus at Boston Calling, which also lists Noname, Bryson Tiller, Belly and Leikeli47 on the bill.
Across the pond, the 2018 Wireless Festival has arranged a lineup that could make even the biggest concert-goer catch a case FOMO. On the weekend July 6, J. Cole, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, Lil Uzi Vert and more American hip-hop stars will join blokes such as Giggs, Mist, J Hus and Stormzy at London's Finsbury Park for a festive, star-studded weekend.
With festivals like OVO Fest, Made in America and Tyler, the Creator's Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival not happening until the second half the year, there's still enough time to save up while 2018's hottest acts make their way onto the prestigious lineups.
