Eminem Calls Tupac the Greatest Songwriter of All Time

Eminem has nothin’ but love for Tupac.

When it comes to songwriting, the “Rap God” says Pac is the GOAT. While hosting his “Music to Be Quarantined By” show over the weekend on his SiriusXM channel Shade45, Em heaped praise on the West Coast rap legend.

“This next song is from an artist that I feel like might be the greatest songwriter all time,” said Em. “Debate what you want about MC skills and all that, because he had that too.”

Before playing “If I Die 2Nite” f 1995’s Me Against the World, he revealed why Pac’s pen was so potent. “This is one them songs by Tupac that to me he was showing you like, I can write heartfelt shit and I can write lyrical crazy shit too,” he added before reciting lyrics from the Pac classic.

“The play on the P words and how he was doing it was so crazy, mixed with the feel that Tupac could give you, which is constantly why I feel like he was always saying, ‘Can you feel me?’ Because you felt Pac. You can’t just listen to Pac, you feel Pac. If you listen to him, you’re gonna feel him.”

The Kamikaze rapper also has love for today’s MCs. While speaking with “Sway in the Morning” last month, he paid homage to Don Toliver and the late Juice WRLD, as well as rap’s reigning MCs including Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole. “I know they’re not kids coming up anymore, but they’ve studied all the greats and you can tell because it goes into their pen,” said Em.

During his “Music to Be Quarantined By” broadcast, Eminem also acknowledged EPMD for revolutionizing hip-hop with their blend funk and rap, and revealed why Special Ed is one his favorite rappers.
