Donald Trump speaks out after the death George Floyd who was suffocated to death at the hands Minneapolis police.
Donald Trump is demanding justice for the murder George Floyd. The president took to Twitter earlier today where he ficially issued a statement regarding Floyd’s death. “At my request, the FBI and the Department Justice are already well into an investigation as to the very sad and tragic death in Minnesota George Floyd,” he wrote. “I have asked for this investigation to be expedited and greatly appreciate all the work done by local law enforcement. My heart goes out to George’s family and friends. Justice will be served!”

Though knowledge the FBI’s involvement in the investigation was already brought to light, Trump’s clearly taking this matter seriously by calling on the Department Justice to investigate Floyd’s death. The four ficers involved have already been fired, though charges haven’t been laid against them yet.
Trump’s response follows the protests that took place in the streets Minneapolis yesterday calling for justice and actual repercussions for the ficers involved in the case.
Police statements initially issued claimed that Floyd was resisting arrest at the time his death which turned out to be false. Surveillance footage from a nearby restaurant emerged this morning that revealed the moments leading up to Floyd’s murder. In the footage, there’s no evidence that Floyd resisted arrest at all.
