Los Angeles, CA – At an Emmys FYC screening and panel for the show Atlanta in Los Angeles on Friday (June 8), members the cast were on hand to answer questions about the recently announced Season 3, according to IndieWire.
While Donald Glover didn’t speak on any the episodes’ plots, he did comment on the less grim tone their third go-around: “I align the seasons I think, to me, like Kanye records. I feel like this is our Graduation. This is probably our most accessible but also the realest — an honest version it — and I feel like the most enjoyable, like the third album.”
Donald and his brother Stephen, who is an executive producer and writer for the show, both expressed how everyone involved is trying to continually outdo themselves, which has made the process all the more enjoyable.
At another point during the panel, Lakeith Stanfield confessed he thought his character, Darius, was going to be replaced by Tracy, played by Khris Davis.
“I was thoroughly convinced that Tracy was going to take my place. I thought Darius was going to get killed f and then Tracy would come back,” he said.
He continued, “One the things about this show that I love is that it’s OK to be next to danger all the time. You don’t know what’s going to happen next, and you’re not safe. So I was just ready to sacrifice myself.”
Director Hiro Murai then said, “Keith, I hate to tell you this, but you actually died in the ‘Teddy Perkins’ episode.” Stanfield then replied, “I’ll come back in] Season 3 as a ghost.”
