De La Soul and Tommy Boy Data have been locked in negotiations over the trio’s musical catalog for years.
On Monday (February 25), Pos, Maseo and Dave revealed Instagram they’d been on the cellphone with the label, making an attempt to decide on a deal that will lastly permit their early albums to be streamed on all digital platforms.
“Expensive followers…simply received f the cellphone with Tommy Boy Data…negotiations (or lack there ) to launch our catalog on all streaming platforms..uh oh.”
De La adopted up with, “Expensive followers … simply received wind that Tommy Boy was not completely satisfied about our final put up. Touché. We aren’t completely satisfied about releasing our catalog below such unbalanced, unfair phrases. #respecttheartist.”
On Tuesday (February 26), De La revealed simply what these phrases are in one other Instagram put up and didn’t appear significantly happy with the result.
“Expensive Followers…The music WILL be launched digitally,” the put up reads. “After 30 lengthy years good music and paying their debt to Hip Hop, De La Soul sadly, won’t style the fruit their labor. De La launched six albums with Tommy Boy, together with the 1989 traditional three Ft Excessive and Rising, 1991’s De La Soul is Useless, 1993’s Buhloone Mindstate and 1996’s Stakes Is Excessive. The group’s final album with the label, AOI: Bionix, dropped in 2001.
