Chilli & T-Boz Reveal Plans For A TLC Broadway Musical

“We didn’t tell it all in our biopic.”

TLC: the Broadway Musical is closer to the conception than any us would have expected a half-decade ago. In the words  Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, seated next to the group’s other living member Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins for an interview with Cheddar, the writing process is very much underway.

“We have so many stories to tell,” Chilli said during the interview. “We didn’t tell it all in our biopic we did with VH1. A lot good stuff. It’s gonna be very emotional but a good ride.”

In spelling out the VH1 specials as a prologue for the group’s overarching vision, Chilli and T-Boz are implying that many stories were left untold, most which I would assume still hold interest today. As writer Fnr Tigg accurately pointed out, the prospective TLC musical wouldn’t lack in material or inspiration for that matter.

For one thing, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes is something a cult figure, within the group itself. She was once signed to Suge Knight at Death Row, which in itself, is an anecdote worth exploring, perhaps on its own.

Truthfully speaking, would a TLC musical be enough to lure you over, those who aren’t already gilded members the Drama Club? Chilli and Boz do appear excited over the project, but there’s a reason to believe ardent TLC fans would have much preferred another studio project instead. Then again, there’s something to be said about preserving one’s legacy, before it reaches a point decay.
