Arizona Man Allegedly Murdered Teen Because He Was "Listening To Rap Music"

PEORIA, AZ – In a crime eerily reminscent murder Jordan Davis , 17-year-old Elijah Alamin was stabbed Thursday morning outside at a Circle K by 27-year-old Michael Adams because he heard the victim listening to rap music in the parking lot.

According to Fox 10 Phoenix, police say Elijah was inside the store when Adams came from behind and stabbed him.

Once authorities found Adams near the Circle K and noticed a pocket knife and blood on his clothing, he allegedly told detectives “rap music made him feel unsafe because, in the past, he was attacked by people who listened to that music genre.”

Adams reportedly also told detectives that he “needed to be proactive than reactive and protect himself and the community from the victim.”

The purported murder happened two days after the suspect was released from prison and Adams had a history mental illness. Jacie Cotterell, Adams’ attorney, says that the Arizona Department Corrections released him without medication or courtesy ride to mental health services despite knowing he had a problem.

The ADC counteracted said in a statement that Adams wasn’t designed as seriously mentally ill and “had no further legal authority over him.”

Cotterell told reporters that Adams shouldn’t get prison but treatment for his illness.

Adams was later charged with one count first-degree murder. He remains in custody the Arizona Department Corrections.
