Twitter – The Jussie Smollett case took an unexpected turn on Tuesday morning (March 26) when prosecutors dropped all charges against the Empire actor.
Earlier this month, Smollett was indicted on 16 felony charges for allegedly filing a false police report, claiming he’d been a victim a hate crime. He alleged two men put a noose around his neck, poured bleach on him and shouted racial and homophobic slurs while kicking and punching him.
As investigators dissected Smollett’s account what happened, they determined he’d stage the entire thing.
Smollett pleaded not guilty and has maintained his innocence — but Twitter isn’t so sure.
Shortly after the news broke, countless people headed to the popular social media platform to berate not only Smollett but also the Chicago Police Department.
Some were outraged a seemingly guilty person got away with such a heinous lie while others felt the justice system – once again – failed. Like many others, Michael Rapaport ( course) had jokes.
Check out some the reactions below.

Hey @Chicago_Police: MSNBC legal analyst just suggested charges were dropped against Jussie Smollett because "The Chicago PD is known to have problems." Is that your take?
— Ann Coulter (@AnnCoulter) March 26, 2019
Chicago PD is also under investigation. Don’t forget that part.
But, we knew this would be the Outcome when they went silent after doing tv interviews and releasing info damn near daily.

There's a whole lot blame to be passed around on the Jussie Smollet issue. From the Chicago PD's bullshit to journalists not understanding how the law works and editorializing facts. And then there's trial by social media, which ten makes things worse.

Gay or straight, Black White or other – you should be OUTRAGED by this injustice. To allege a hate crime only for police investigators to find you faked it then be let f scot free is sick. Another example why Chicago has so much crime and corruption.

Its kinda weird after listening to the Jussie Smollett conference. His lawyer says that the 2 brother did admit to the attack, but then Jussie follows her and says he was consistent the whole time.
But he said his attackers where White…..
This case is fucked.

Can you name a single person on planet earth who actually believes Jussie Smollett didn’t fake the whole thing?

I want M. Night Shyamalan to pop out and claim writing credits on the Jussie Smollett story like “told you dummies, i never lost it”

What #JussieSmollett did was far worse than what I did. Yet he walks without so much as a misdemeanor! Can anyone doubt there is a two tiered system justice in this country?

I can't quite put my finger on it… but I feel like Jussie Smollett had a Chicago PD "Get Jail Free Card." pic.twitter.com/HR4vxxAIxZ

Somewhere on the south side Chicago this morning is a 17 year old black kid on his way to jail for some petty misdemeanor who's saying to himself, "What the fuck?"#JussieSmollett

Can you say Judge and $$$$. I thought white america was privileged? ??
Called Money talks and bullshit walks. For whomever.— George Remaily (@GeorgeRemaily) March 26, 2019
How the fuck does Jussie Smollett just get f the hook that easy? All the evidence that was found doesn't matter at all? It wouldn't happen to be yet another political job to take the spotlight f Trump beating the witchhunt, would it? DESPICABLE is all I can say…

LOL @JussieSmollett claimed he had been truthful — right after his lawyer said that the Osundairo brothers were the ones who attacked him. (Not white guys yelling "this is MAGA country," his original story.)

If Jussie Smollett is not guilty filing a false report, there is no such thing as filing a false report

The people Jussie Smollett hurt:
1. Real victims real hate crimes
2. Anyone who needed police resources used on this
3. Trump supporters, by falsely accusing them racism
4. Our country, by exploiting racial wounds
5. Young ppl, who think they need to be victims to succeed— Liz Wheeler (@Liz_Wheeler) March 26, 2019
