6ix9ine is coming back sooner than you think.

Less than one month after his release from prison, the rapper has announced his return to music. In the first post-prison post on his Instagram page, Tekashi teased a May 8 release date. “You ready?” he wrote along with the tongue emoji. “May 8th.”

May 8 falls on a Friday, which is the traditional new music release day.

While it’s unclear what he plans to drop that day, he has been working on new music since being released to home confinement. He has reportedly set up a studio at home and is recording an English and Spanish album as part his multi-million-dollar deal with 10K Projects.

According to TMZ, a judge has also given him the green light to film music videos “within the confines” his home. Tekashi can perform employment-related activities for two hours per week and one specific day pending advance approval by his probation ficer. He’s also allowed to work in his basement but it’s “limited to no more than an 8-hour period per day” with approval from his P.O.

In a recent interview with DJ Whoo Kid, Akon said he would be open to collaborating with the embattled MC and believes their song would be a hit just because the interest surrounding Tekashi’s high-prile case. “That record probably be the hottest record that drop this year. Even if you don’t like him, you gon’ get it, download it just out curiosity,” he said.

In between buying a fleet luxury cars and expensive jewelry, 6ix9ine has returned to social media to make light his snitching. He changed his Instagram prile to depict himself as a rat and popped up during an episode Tory Lanez’ “Quarantine Radio” on Instagram Live.

6ix9ine was released from a Queens Detention Facility on April 2 to avoid contracting the coronavirus. He will serve the remainder his 24-month sentence under supervised release. Once he is f house arrest in late July, he will still need to get permission from his probation ficer to travel for work.
