“Trollz” are coming.
After rumors first surfaced last month, Nicki Minaj is making it ficial. On Wednesday, she announced that she is teaming up with 6ix9ine on their new collaboration “Trollz.”
The song and video are set to debut Thursday at midnight. Along with the announcement, Nicki shared photos from the video shoot, which took place while 6ix9ine was under home confinement. The rap queen, who recently reignited pregnancy rumors, can be seen rocking rainbow hair and a furry white bra and boots while standing alongside Tekashi on the all-red set.
A portion the proceeds from “Trollz” including merch will go to The Bail Project Inc., which provides free bail assistance to low-income individuals who can’t afford to pay bail while awaiting their trial.
“We want to protect and support the thousands brave people working on the front lines social justice, using their voices to demand AN END to the targeting and killing Black Americans by the police,” explained Nicki in her caption, while adding the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter.
The song was originally supposed to drop last month, but 6ix9ine pushed it back “out respect for what we are going through right now.”
This wouldn’t be their first collaboration. 6ix9ine and Nicki previously linked up on “FEFE,” which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, as well as the Kanye West-assisted “MAMA,” both f 6ix9ine’s debut album Dummy Boy.
Despite the controversy surrounding his snitching, Nicki has remained loyal to Tekashi. Following his arrest in November 2018, she shared her support for him. “When I know somebody there’s nothing you can tell me about him,” she said. “That’s just how it is.”
“Trollz” follows 6ix9ine’s single “GOOBA,” which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and racked up over 300 million views on YouTube. He has also collaborated with Akon on a sequel to “Locked Up,” which he previewed on Instagram.
This is the first release from Nicki since her remix to Doja Cat’s “Say So,” which became her first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
