YNW Melly to Release New Album From Jail

YNW Melly is spitting bars behind bars.

While he awaits trial, the incarcerated rapper is readying new music. Taking to Instagram on Friday (Aug. 9), he announced plans for his new album, Melly vs. Melvin.

“Album on the way everybody,” he wrote alongside a photo himself smiling in jail. “Y’all ready #MellyVsMelvin.”

In April, Melly teased a mixtape called Free M&M, but the project was never released. Last month, he dropped a song called “Dangerously in Love (772 Love Pt. 2),” which samples Beyoncé’s “Dangerously in Love” and Destiny’s Child’s “Cater 2 U.”

The 20-year-old has been behind bars since February and is facing the death penalty in his double-murder case. He was charged with two counts first-degree murder stemming from the October 2018 shooting Anthony Williams (YNW Sakchaser) and Christopher Thomas Jr. (YNW Juvy).

Despite the allegations that he murdered his two friends, the “Murder on My Mind” rapper is hopeful that he will be released.

“I just want to let all my fans know that God is real,” he told fans in May. “He has cleansed my soul, he has blessed me tremendously. …] He’s the reason I’m coming home.”
