Gekyume was born on January 26, 2019, nearly seven months after his father was murdered and just three days after X’s birthday. Although X was one the most polarizing rappers in the current generation artists, his passing sent shockwaves throughout the industry. His fans are still mourning his death, yet Gekyume is the bright spot in all the controversy. When Gekyume was born, fans struggled to find the meaning, and pronunciation, his name. Jenesis Sanchez, Gekyume’s mother, explained, “Gekyume means different state or universe thought.
