When is BTS getting back together? HYBE has previously said that the group would reconvene in 2025 following the mandatory military service of all seven members. Here’s the latest.
On Wednesday, March 15, HYBE label chairman Bang Si-hyuk appeared at the Gwanhun Forum, where he held a press Q&A discussing the company’s plans for further K-pop expansion and the return of BTS following their mandatory military service.
Bang announced that while HYBE hopes that BTS will reconvene in 2025, there is no date set for the group’s return, and he requested respect for the band’s privacy regarding their plans and military service. Additionally, Bang revealed that BTS members have yet to renew their contracts with HYBE and that the company still has time until their contracts expire.
“We said we ‘hope’ the members can resume in 2025, not ‘will.’ BTS and the firm will both work for it, but it doesn’t mean we can target (2025),” explains Bang. “We still have time left (until the contract ends). We’ll discuss (with the members) within the time, and I believe it will be right for us to speak about it after the discussion ends.”
HYBE’s BIGHIT Music said in October that all seven members would serve their required military enlistment and that the group is expected to reconvene in 2025. In June, BTS shared in a video that they plan to take a break from group activities to focus on solo work and personal lives.
“The enlistment schedules (of each member) are private information, so I cannot speak about it here,” says Bang. “But we will disclose the dates in order transparently once their schedules are confirmed.”
In January, Jin became the first member of the septet to begin his mandatory 18-month service in the South Korean military at age 30. While it has not been revealed when RM, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook will begin their service, it seems likely to be soon if the band hopes to reunite in 2025.
