Was 2019 Hip Hop’s Most Forgettable Year This Decade? | The Breakdown

A lot happened in 2019 when it comes to Hip Hop. There were some stellar albums like DX’s Album Of The Year Freddie Gibbs Bandana and Rapsody’s Eve. It was also a breakout year for spitters like our Rookie Of The Year YBN Cordae, our Level Up Award winner Megan Thee Stallion, and our Rapper Of The Year, DaBaby. For the complete list our 2019 Year End Awards, you can click here.

On the other side things, there were also some disappointing albums from some our favorite artists, and many the biggest rappers in the game didn’t drop projects at all. Drake, Kendrick, JAY-Z and J. Cole didn’t drop solo albums this year (although Cole did give us a great compilation project).

In 2019’s final episode The Breakdown, host Page Kennedy dissects the year and looks at the good, the bad, and the forgettable.
