Go, go, go go.
Coming on the heels of taking the top spot of the Billboard 100 charts, Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign release the accompanying music video to their song “Carnival”, featuring Playboi Carti and Rich The Kid.
The still-shot visual is courtesy Jon Rafman featuring CGI by Dario Alva. Rich The Kid sets off the track rapping, “Way too rich to drive a Rove’ / Made a milli’ off the stove,” while Ty Dolla follows suite. “Every day, I dress all black / For a show, nine hundred racks Middle East call, double that.”
Ye name drops some of his peers (“I mean since Taylor Swift, since I had the Rollie on the wrist I’m the new Jesus, bitch, I turn water to Cris’.”) and Carti bigs up his collaborator. (“Fifty mil’ stuffed in the bag, tell the whole gang eat, uh It’s Ye and Barti, tell me who fuckin’ with we?”).
This week, “Carnival” climbs to No. 1 on the Billboard 100 singles charts. It marks Ye’s fifth top charting single and is now the first rapper ever to have topped the Hot 100 in three distinct decades (the 2000s, ‘10s and ‘20s). It also marks Ty Dolla’s second and Carti and Rich’s first.
“Carnival” is lifted from Ye and Ty Dolla $ign’s collaborative album Vultures 1, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 charts.
