Ronda Rousey Takes All The Credit For Women’s Wrestlemania Main Event

“They need me and I made it happen.”

On Sunday, April 7, WWE superstars Ronda Rousey, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair will make history as they main event Wrestlemania 35, marking the first time that a women’s match has earned that honor.

It’s a testament to the evolution the women’s division, and also a clear indication how much Rousey has elevated the Raw Women’s championship.

In fact, the UFC Hall Famer says Lynch and Flair would never have had the opportunity to main event Wrestlemania if it weren’t for her.

In the latest episode the “Ronda on the Road,” Rousey says (H/T Cageside Seats):

“On one hand, I’m like so happy for all the progress we made and like, this is like some real lifetime legacy s***, you know. This is like real effect that you’re having on society and mankind. That’s awesome, but then it’s also, it’s really cool to see people like so pissed f that thought I would fail miserably, and see that within one year we’re the main event  WrestleMania and you know what? I could promise you that Charlotte vs. Becky 9,000 wouldn’t have made the main event at WrestleMania. They need me and I made it happen. And all these people can like bitch and moan and complain otherwise, but you know what? Somewhere there’s an alternate universe where I didn’t do the WWE and those b***** aren’t main eventing WrestleMania this year – f****** verb.”

This is another example how Rousey has masterfully blurred the lines between reality and kayfabe, but she does have a point about being the driving force behind the first-ever women’s Wrestlemania main event.
