“Social distancing is a necessary evil in COVID world. Watching “Mother” reminds me just how irreplaceable the joy being in a band is,” Waters said in the tweet.
“Mother” was released on the classic 1979 album, The Wall. The lyrics touch on over-protective maternal relationships, politics, and more. Other popular songs from the album include “Comfortably Numb,” and “Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2.”
After the lyric “Mother should I trust the government,” the singer seems to mouth the words, “no f–king way.”
Waters was originally scheduled to be touring across the United States this summer; however, the performances were canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak. “The bad news is: I’ve had to postpone my tour until next year,” Waters said in a release. “Bummer, but if it saves lives, it’s worth it.”
Live Nation has recently said they will begin testing new, safe methods hosting concerts over the summer. Ideas include lowering capacity, drive-in concerts, and more.
After the performance he thanks his bandmates. “We should do this again, right?” he concludes.
