R. Kelly Loses Sexual Abuse Lawsuit After Not Showing Up In Court


R. Kelly failed to show up to his court date & lost by default.

R. Kelly fell right into the pit  controversy following the release a 2-part documentary, extensively observing the singer’s previous sexual misconduct. Precisely, Surviving R. Kelly explored the numerous ways in which the “Bump N’ Grind” allegedly took advantage and abused numerous women, most which were underage at the time. The documentary garnered a series civil lawsuits against the R&B star, notably ten counts aggravated criminal sexual abuse is currently tied to Kelly’s name his home state Illinois.

Of the several motions against him, R. Kelly appears to have lost one this week. According to the Chicago Tribune, Kelly failed to show up to his set court date which resulted in the default loss. The case itself was brought forth by a woman who claimed having begun a sexual relationship with the disgraced musician in 1998. Indubitably, the woman was only 16 years old at the time. The suit totaled $50,000 in damages.

Furthermore, reports by the Tribune also add: “Robert Sylvester Kelly has failed and refused to file an appearance or answer to the Complaint even though he is] required to do so,” and as such, Kelly’s team clapped back with an unapologetic opinion surrounding the filed lawsuits. Darrell Johnson, the singer’s publicist, shared the following quote with the Chicago Sun-Times: “We don’t care about the lawsuit. The lawsuit means nothing to us.”
