This week’s FIRE EMOJI playlist reflects the measures taken by the artists themselves. In the wake Nipsey’s passing, numerous artists including 88Glam and ScHoolboy Q pulled their song submissions from streaming services at the cost spoiling their predetermined plans. But in the case Nipsey’s tragic slaying, the gilded hip-hop community is going to be far more scrutinous when it comes to exploitation. Beyond that, there’s a good reason to believe this moratorium might do the industry some good the longer it lasts.
