The 24-year-old Baton Rouge native was taken into custody from his Utah residence on Wednesday (Apr. 17) by the Cache County Sherriff’s Office, Homeland Security and the FBI. The multiple agencies executed a search warrant as part of an ongoing investigation into criminal conduct.
The investigation began when a pharmacist noticed a called-in prescription by a doctor who’s phone number did not match what the pharmacist had on file for that doctor’s office. Authorities were contacted and they soon learned of the fraudulent activity and that numerous incidents have occurred throughout the area. Authorities believe the defendants who are involved were scheming to fraudulently obtain promethazine with codeine.
NBA YoungBoy, born Kentrell Gaulden, was living in his compound in Utah on house arrest while awaiting trail in a felony weapons case in Baton Rouge. The case stems from his 2020 arrest for drugs and firearms at a video shoot in Baton Rouge. He is set to be tried in that case beginning July 15.
