Meek Mill brings the scary hours to the City Of Brotherly Love on “5AM In Philly”, the Philadelphia rapper’s latest release.
Utilizing Drake’s timestamped music series, Meek reflects on the harsh realities of his city and from around the world.
He begins, “Chopper by the bed, glizzy by the door / How you think I’m supposed to live when only thing I see is war? / Yesterday, was on the ‘Gram, I seen a baby on the floor / They said they hit him with a bomb, and that kid ain’t with his mom.”
Elsewhere, Meek touches on critics and fake friends. “How you gon’ tell me you love me and change your mind? / I’m reading everything, wrote a book about all your lies,” he raps. “I’m peeping everything, so who crooked that’s in the squad? / My homie lying to me while he lookin’ me in my eyes, and shit.”
“5AM In Philly” is Meek Mill’s first official music since February’s Heathenism, a 5-track EP and his first independent release.
