Marques Houston’s 19-year-old fiancée, Miya Dickey, has broken her silence on the controversy surrounding her engagement to the 38-year-old singer.
Miya Dickey, the 19-year-old fiancée 38-year-old Marques Houston, decided to make some acknowledgement the recent controversy surrounding their relationship. Earlier this week, some folks on Twitter started to take notice the massive age gap between Marques and his teenaged fiancée, and after doing the math based on certain time stamps their relationship, some began to speculate that the R&B singer had begun dating Miya while she was still a minor. It was also alleged that Miya was a teen runaway whom Marques’ good friend Chris Stokes considered a “daughter.”

These claims caused quite an uproar, and even led former B2K member Raz-B’s past sexual abuse allegations against Marques as well as Chris, Raz’s cousin and B2K’s manager at the time, to resurface. However, Miya is determined not to let all the negativity surrounding her engagement to Marques get to her. On Wednesday, she shared a mirror selfie on Instagram regarding the controversy, and while she doesn’t mention the rumours directly, she does allude to experiencing “hate” over “the last few days.”
“Hope Everyone is staying positive throughout all the pain going on everyday!” she wrote. “In these times we need love more than hate. I pray that everyone is safe, happy and healthy. Thank you to those who have shown me and my family love throughout the last few days. Love you all, Miya!”
After these rumours about him and his fiancée began spreading, Marques also took to Instagram to clear everything up. “With all that’s going on in the world, my love life shouldn’t be a topic. But since it is let me just give y’all the facts so you don’t have to ‘allegedly’ believe or create rumors,” he wrote. “I met Miya in 2018 through a mutual friend. Never before then, did I even know she existed…Miya is like a daughter to Chris Stokes because we are all like family. Being a Jehovah’s Witness, we all showcase true love like family. That’s it. Chris’ real daughter, Chrissy Morales became friends with Miya in 2018, where we all first met Miya at a Jehovah’s Witness convention. It was then that Chrissy and Miya became friends.”
“Miya and I didn’t start dating until she was an adult,” he explained. “We fell in love and got engaged in March 2019…So to all the rumors about me, none it is true! And that’s the story. No twists, no turns, no scandals, just true love. There is nothing that can come to light, because there’s no darkness in my life. You wanted the truth. I don’t have anything to hide, so if you’re waiting for something else, you will be waiting for ever.”
