Machine Gun Kelly Mourns Death of His Father

Machine Gun Kelly is mourning the death his father.

On Sunday, on the one-year anniversary his album Hotel Diablo, the Cleveland rapper took to Instagram to reveal that his dad passed away.

“i had plans for the one year anniversary Hotel Diablo today.‬..‪that album was everything i wanted to say and i know it’s close to my fans…‬” MGK told his 6.2 million followers. “but my father took his last breath this morning, and ive never felt a pain this deep in my life.”

Added MGK, “‪i’m setting my phone down. ‬‪love you. thank you guys for everything.”

He received support from friends including Lil Skies, Hailee Steinfeld, and Travis Barker, who wrote, “Send all the love in the world to you right now brother.”

In an interview with The New York Times, the 30-year-old rapper—born Richard Colson Baker—revealed that he recently reconciled with his father, who was hospitalized with a non-COVID-19-related illness.

“It sucks because I really just want to just scream and cry and sit in my room and just wait for someone to come tell me it’s going to be all good,” he said.

He was overcome with emotion as he reflected on their relationship. “He’s so stoked that I’m playing guitar now. He called me the other day and told me that he’s really starting to enjoy my music,” he added. “And he’s super proud me.”

Machine Gun Kelly recently made headlines after confirming his relationship with Megan Fox, who co-starred in his video for “Bloody Valentine.” He is now readying his new album, Tickets to My Downfall, for release this month.
