Lil Wayne Says ‘Tha Carter V’ Release Date Is Coming

Tha Carter V is coming.

After settling his lawsuit with Cash Money, Lil Wayne is now readying the release his long-awaited album. The Young Money chief has remained quiet about the settlement…until now. During a performance at Story Nightclub in Miami over the weekend, Weezy provided an update to eager fans ( HipHop-N-More).

“Just to let y’all know, I had a meeting today. It wasn’t a long meeting, but just so you know the meeting was about the release date Tha Carter f*cking V,” Weezy said to cheers from the crowd.

The sequel to 2011’s Tha Carter IV has been years in the making. In an interview with Rap-Up in February, Birdman promised it would arrive before the end 2018. “We’ll get that this year,” he said. “I’m guaranteeing you gon’ get it this year.”

Earlier this month, Wayne’s attorney Ron Sweeney confirmed that the rapper had reached a settlement in his lengthy legal battle with Cash Money. He reportedly received a payout around $10 million.

“Per our settlement agreement, the matter has been amicably resolved to the satisfaction all parties,” said Sweeney. “In terms the particulars, we’re prohibited legally from saying anything further. I can say that my client is happy. He is his own man, a man that owns his assets, his music, and himself. At some point, Wayne will let his fans know what’s going to happen next.”
