Lil Wayne Pays Respects To Nipsey Hussle

Lil Wayne takes a moment to remember Nipsey Hussle.

Yesterday evening, Lil Wayne took to Twitter to fer his condolences to the late Nipsey Hussle. The message, succinct and powerful, found Wayne joining the ranks prominent hip-hop mourners. Weezy’s message follows a powerful eulogy by his son Cameron Carter, who took to the stage during Nipsey’s “Celebration Of Life” memorial service; perhaps Weezy was stricken with a bout fatherly inspiration. Though only a young child, Cameron carried himself admirably, delivering an eloquent and adorable speech in Nipsey’s honor.

“On the night April 2nd, I had a dream I was in a paradise,” said Cameron. “I was in paradise and I was playing in the ocean water when Ermias popped up right behind me. He said ‘Waddup killa,’ cause that’s my nickname to him. I turned around and I yelled his name and I gave him a hug. Shortly, he was gone but it was still cool, I guess. I told my mom about the dream and after I told her, I was thinking about it and I realized that Ermias told me what heaven was like. He told me it was paradise.”

While Wayne is largely private where Twitter is concerned, the fact that he paid respects speaks to the wide-ranging scope Nip’s legacy. Though the pair never connected on wax, it’s clear that the respect was there, at least on an artistic level. Shout out to Wayne for keeping it real, and we echo his sentiment wholeheartedly: “RIP NIP.”
