James also did a stint in Miami where he won 2 rings alongside Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. The legacy James will be lengthy, and anyone who can get their hands on rare memorabilia connected to the athlete will ultimately end up holding onto a very prized piece sports history. That person could be you. As reported by ESPN, James’ high-school jersey is going up for auction.
The jersey that James wore at his Ohio high-school during his first Sports Illustrated magazine cover shoot as a teenager in 2002 is being auctioned to whoever can afford it. The auction listing says the gold mesh jersey from the NBA star’s days with the St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish in Akron features green lettering with the word “Irish” and number 23. It is sweat-stained as well, adding more authenticity. Goldin Auctions claims James gave the jersey to its current owner, an unidentified seller who attended the high-school. Goldin Auctions says 5% the proceeds will go to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts. The auction ends October 19 and early bidding has already reached $37,000.
