Kodak Black Apologizes to Nipsey Hussle for Disrespecting Lauren London

Kodak Black is sorry.

The incarcerated rapper has apologized for the disrespectful comments he made about Lauren London in the wake Nipsey Hussle’s death in March 2019. At the time, Kodak said he would wait “a whole year” before pursuing Nipsey’s girlfriend.

“Lauren London dat baby though. She finna be a whole widow out here. I’ll be the best man I can be for her,” Kodak said while on Instagram Live in April 2019. “I’ll give her a whole year. She might need a whole year to be crying and shit for him.”

Over a year after making the controversial comments, Kodak issued a formal apology Instagram on Monday. Alongside a photo Nipsey, he admitted his wrongdoings and paid homage to the late MC.

“Willin To Accept When I’m Wrong & Stand Firm When I’m Right. The Whole World Know Your Example Was A Guiding Light,” wrote Kodak. “I Pray Your Fam Light & Accept This Humble Apology In My Kite. You Remind Me Of Icecube, Bunchy Carter & Huey P. A Hustler & Owner The Second Coming Of Easy E.”

He celebrated Nipsey’s legacy while drawing comparisons between the two them. “What Happened To You Could’ve Happened To Me! Im a Young Philanthropist Like You. Even Tho We From Two Different Worlds, I Saw Your Vision But I Notice That My Words Are Often Misinterpreted,” he added.

He ended with an apology to Nipsey and Lauren. “Sometimes A Man Say Things He Doesn’t Really Mean But On Some Z Shit I Never Meant To Disrespect Your Queen, Homie I Was Really Respecting Your Scene. #FLYHIGH Ima Keep The Marathon Going #KINGKAHAN @nipseyhussle @laurenlondon.”

His original comments, which were made less than a week after Nipsey was shot and killed outside his Marathon Clothing store, were met with outrage and backlash from the hip-hop community including The Game and T.I.

Kodak eventually issued an apology. “If I disrespected you Lauren London, in any shape or form, I’m sorry,” he said on Instagram Live. “Even though I didn’t. And rest in peace to Nipsey].”

The 23-year-old rapper is currently serving time at a federal prison in Kentucky for lying on federal forms when he purchased firearms at a weapons store. He is scheduled to be released on Aug. 14, 2022.
