Jussie Smollett’s Alleged Attacker Abel Osundairo Wins Second Boxing Match

Osundairo just won a boxing match over the weekend.

One the biggest stories in entertainment over the last month involves Empire star Jussie Smollett who allegedly staged an attack against himself, that was originally reported as a hate crime. Smollett has since been indicted on 16 felony counts and could be facing some serious jail time if convicted. While Smollett is in the fight his life to keep himself out prison, one the brothers that Smollett allegedly hired to attack him, is now trying his hand at amateur boxing.

Abel Osundairo won his quarter-final boxing matchup in the Chicago Golden Gloves Tournament by TKO on Saturday. On Thursday, Osundairo returned to the ring for his semi-final matchup and once again, he came away victorious. The amateur boxer won by unanimous decision and will be competing in the finals the tournament next month. Footage from the fight comes courtesy TMZ

After the fight, Abel was swarmed by reporters although he didn’t seem interested in answering any questions. The Smollett controversy is clearly still on his mind and he doesn’t want it to be a distraction to his fledgling boxing career. Abel and his brother Ola have been cooperative with police with their lawyer claiming their innocence in the ordeal.

“My clients were just taken advantage by someone they trusted,” Gloria Schmidt, the Osundairo’s lawyer told GMA. “This was someone who the brothers thought could help their career…Someone they had trusted to consider their best interest.”
